Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's Advancements in Clean Energy and Sustainability: Collaboration with Swiss Confederation

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, held a meeting with Angelika Schempp, Consul General of the Swiss Confederation in Dubai, in the main building of the Authority, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in the sectors of clean energy, energy efficiency, and water, in addition to exploring new horizons for joint work. In the fields of innovation and digital transformation.

The meeting was attended by Engineer Walid bin Salman, Executive Vice President of the Business Development and Excellence Sector at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and Dr. Yousef Al-Akraf, Executive Vice President of the Business Support and Human Resources Sector at the Authority.

During the meeting, Al Tayer affirmed the joint commitment to advancing the global transition towards clean and sustainable energy solutions. The meeting also discussed various means of cooperation, which will benefit both the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland, in addition to contributing to global efforts to reduce the effects of climate change.

During the meeting, Al Tayer reviewed DEWA’s most important achievements, initiatives and projects in the renewable and clean energy sector, the most prominent of which is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest solar energy park in one location in the world, and its production capacity will reach 5,000 megawatts by 2030.

He also highlighted the importance of innovation and digital transformation, and discussed prospects for cooperation in benefiting from advanced technologies to improve the efficiency and sustainability of energy and water systems. The two sides also discussed the prospects for exchanging knowledge, expertise, and cooperation in developing and disseminating clean and renewable energy sources, and the role of this in energy sustainability and reducing emissions.

For her part, the Consul General of the Swiss Confederation in Dubai praised the efforts of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in developing renewable energy projects.
