In a crossroads bout, fringe heavyweight contender Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller 26-0-1 (22) claimed the scalp of Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne 31-4 (27) with a sixth-round stoppage of the former WBA ‘regular’ titleholder at the Agenda Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Saturday night.

There was little action in the opening round but Australian Browne, 43, let his hands go in the second, nailing the 34-year-old American with a variety of shots.

The 333-pound Miller weathered the storm and got into his groove as the rounds progressed. In the fourth Miller had Browne reeling around the ring but ‘Big Daddy’ shook off the punishment and came storming back early in the fifth.

That ended up being the Aussie’s last stand as Miller finished the stronger of the two and went on with it in the sixth, battering Browne to the canvas and continuing the onslaught to score the stoppage at the 2:33 mark.

“Sometimes you can’t knock everybody out right away,” Miller said after the fight.

“You know, I had off three-and-a-half years and Lucas was the first game opponent that came in here that I knew can crack.

“He’s stunned guys and was on a winning streak, so I knew if I couldn’t get him out in the first round, I had to take my time. And you know, sometimes you been out the ring, the nervous energy’s there, the legs are not with you right away.

“But I felt comfortable. I just knew that I had to get my wind right and just start focusing and not getting hit with shots. But like I said before, four [years] off, I’m fighting an ex-champion, he’s game.

“Nothing but love and respect for Lucas.”

Miller’s career has been plagued by repeated performance enhancing drug breaches. He missed out on a career-high payday against then-WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua 24-3 (22) in June 2019 when he pissed hot.

He has since logged a pair of win against journeymen since his return to the ring last year following his fourth-round knockout victory over Bogdan Dinu in November 2018.

Brooklyn’s Miller joins Dillian Whyte, Dave Allen and Paul Gallen as victors over Browne. All of Browne’s losses have come by way of knockout.
